Lisa Fugiel, MSN, RN-BC

Lisa Fugiel is the Assistant Dean for the School of Health & Patient Simulation and the Director of Nursing at Springfield Technical Community College (STCC). She has held that position since 2015. Prior to that she was a Professor of Nursing at STCC from 2003 -2011. Her expertise is in Medical-Surgical Nursing and patient simulation. She taught Issues and Trends in Nursing and Simulation at both the freshman and senior level.

Lisa has worked at Holyoke Medical Center (HMC) for over 25 years where she held a variety of positions including: nurse manager, staff development, supervisor, and staff nurse. She collaboratively worked to develop innovative educational programs, including integration of simulation for orientation and competency assessment, and the development and instruction of Meditech’s automated documentation system for nursing. Lisa received her Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from Salem State College and her Master’s degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix. She is ANCC certified in medical-surgical nursing, Lisa has been presenting nationally on simulation since 2004. September 2005, she and several of her colleagues from STCC presented on Simulation at the NLN conference in Baltimore. Lisa has also co-authored a publication on “What do we do now that we have SimMan® out of the box? Using a template to develop simulation scenarios.” Lisa was also involved with the NLN High Stakes Assessment project in 2012. She continues to provide simulation training as well as mentor graduate students.
