Mary Jo Renear, MEd
For almost 30 years, I have taught high school science in both public and private schools - from Western Massachusetts to Greece. I have taught courses in Health, Anatomy/Physiology, Physical Science, and Chemistry but my true love is Biology.
I have been teaching for over 20 years at East Longmeadow High School where I recently received the Grinspoon Award for Excellence in Teaching. I teach all levels of Biology from 9th grade to Advanced Placement. I have been an adjunct professor at The Elms College. Last year was my first year teaching Bio109 in Bay Path's The One Day A Week Saturday College Program.
Learning and understanding how the living world works as well as how we are entwined with the natural world for our health and future has always fascinated me. I love teaching and sharing my understanding of the living world with students. Former students have informed me that I motivated them to pursue careers in medicine, biotechnology and education.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy reading, swimming, kayaking, traveling, gardening and cooking. I am also an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
