Matthew J. Smith, MBA

Matthew Smith is the Director of Cybersecurity Programs at Bay Path University. He is responsible for providing strategic direction, leadership, and innovation for the cybersecurity degree curriculum. Matthew has over 25 years of experience in technology and information security leadership roles across the government, financial services, and technology sectors. A veteran of the United States Navy, Matthew started his cybersecurity career as a cryptologic technician then proceeded in working at the Pentagon as well as the Department of Defense Cyber Crime Center (DC3).  Matthew has received his MBA from Norwich University, MA from San Diego State University, and BA from the University of Maryland.

Matthew began his academic career in 2014 as an adjunct professor utilizing his expertise in cyber forensics, intrusion analysis, incident response, cybercrime, and computer engineering. In addition to teaching, he has held careers in the government and private sector with such Fortune 500 companies as General Dynamics, Dell-EMC Corporation & MassMutual Financial. His expertise in digital forensics has earned him the honor of a Subject Matter Expert (SME). Matthew also holds a Federal security clearance and is classified within the United States Federal Courts for testimony as an Expert Witness.
