Trey Mireles, MS

Director of Psychology and Faculty Development

MS, Capella University
BA, University of Wisconsin at Madison

Trey Mireles started his journey as an educator as a young child who chose to be a volunteer summer school teaching assistant. His career path has blossomed ever since.

Trey's formal path to becoming an educator began with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. During this time he had the opportunity to work with students with physical and emotional disabilities while working in special education in the Madison Metropolitan School District.

Completing an MS in Educational Psychology from Capella University provided a theoretical background to support the instructional practices he models and shares. Trey chose Capella University because he was a working adult with a growing family to support. He understands the demands of being an adult learner and works hard to implement strategies that ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed. This knowledge and empathetic perspective has also allowed Trey to work as group psychotherapist with adolescents in day treatment who suffered from a variety of mental illness.

Trey currently works as Director of Psychology and Faculty Development for The American Women's College and One Day a Week Saturday Program. In his role as Director of Psychology he designs courses and curriculum, teaches several courses per year, and works with faculty and students to ensure students are successful in achieving and when possible exceeding the outcomes set forth by the American Psychology Association for Psychology majors.

As Director of Faculty Development, Trey uses his unique experiences and degree to bring an understanding of social sciences and neuropsychology to education. This allows him to provide valuable insights into how the mind works and how to leverage this understanding to become a better educator. He has helped to create a community of intrinsically motivated faculty at The American Women's College and One Day a Week College Saturday program.
