What do you love about Healthcare Management?
Healthcare is an exciting, dynamic field thanks to new research and fast-changing technologies. And it’s a field where good leaders can really make a difference for patient outcomes. Knowing that someday it will be ‘me or mine’ needing care kept me committed to making a difference as a clinician -- and still does as an educator.
What’s the value of a Master of Science in Healthcare Management?
- It is interdisciplinary. It prepares not just clinicians but also providers in IT, HR, finance, insurance, environmental service, operations, and all behind-the-scenes areas for today’s system-focused care model. Healthcare is not siloed anymore, and everyone working in it needs to think of how their decisions impact the entire system of quality, efficiency, solvency, and affordability.
- It leads to lucrative jobs. The median annual wage for medical and health services managers was $99,730 in May 2018. The highest 10% earned more than $176,130.
- It opens doors to a growing field. Employment of medical and health services managers is projected to grow 18% 2018 to 2028.
