Q & A with Dr. Terry DeVito

Program Coordinator Dr. Terry DeVito, EdD, MEd, RN, CHCQM, brings to Bay Path extensive academic experience as a professor, program director, and department chair, as well as decades of expertise in healthcare practice. Dr. DeVito began her career as a registered nurse in a hospital emergency room, a role she credits for developing leadership and team skills. She also held emergency department positions as quality assurance coordinator and nursing director. As an educator in allied health and emergency medical services, she was a vital contributor to the National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards adopted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and has been recognized for various paramedic education methodologies. Outside her passion for healthcare education, Dr. DeVito loves hiking with her dogs and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

What do you love about Healthcare Management?

Healthcare is an exciting, dynamic field thanks to new research and fast-changing technologies. And it’s a field where good leaders can really make a difference for patient outcomes. Knowing that someday it will be ‘me or mine’ needing care kept me committed to making a difference as a clinician -- and still does as an educator.
