Doctor of Nursing Practice Program

Bay Path University's fully online BSN-DNP/FNP is a 70 credit, 19 course program (plus 1,000 supervised clinical hours). The degree will be offered on a part-time basis, requiring students to take 2 courses per semester. Students can complete the BSN-DNP/FNP in approximately 3 years. The program must be completed within 7 years of enrollment. Bay Path also offers a 36-credit Post-MSN to DNP option.

Year One:

  • Is composed of didactic courses providing core knowledge and skills required for the doctorally-prepared advanced practice registered nurse (APRN).
  • Has sufficient depth of focus, a separate course is included for each of the following content areas: advanced pathophysiology, advanced health assessment, nursing theory and health promotion, biostatistics and epidemiology, population health, and healthcare informatics.

Years Two & Three:

  • Study focuses on the didactic/clinical family nurse practitioner courses and DNP capstone project requirements.
  • All of the focused family nurse practitioner courses are completed concurrently with clinical practicum courses. Students are required to complete a minimum of 1,000 hours divided among 5 clinical content areas (adult primary care, women’s health, geriatrics, pediatrics, and mental health) in a supervised clinical immersion practicum that prepares them for the advanced practice registered nurse role as a family nurse practitioner. Because the program is entirely online, supervised clinical experiences can be arranged in students’ home geographic areas. If a clinical site is not available near a student's residence, temporary relocation may be necessary. Clinical sites and preceptors will be approved by Bay Path University.
