Health Foundations

Advance your career with an innovative degree in Health Foundations and prepare for an exciting, versatile career.

Why Health Foundations at The American Women's College?

The B.A. in Liberal Studies with a major in Health Foundations will prepare you to achieve your health-related career goals. The major combines core science and health fundamentals with broad exposure to the humanities. Program graduates will be well-rounded health professionals. As a student, you will choose from a wide range of electives that center on the intersection of science and human health.

This bachelor’s degree will prepare you for employment in a variety of allied-health and science roles.  However, with careful planning, you may use this program to help you plan for acceptance into a health sciences professional or graduate program. Although individual school requirements will vary, our Health Foundations curriculum was designed to meet the most common prerequisites of health professional schools.

As a Health Foundations major, you will:

  • Develop a strong foundation in biology, chemistry and the principles of human health
  • Take part in experiential learning opportunities and reflect upon professional practice
  • Learn to apply scientific and medical ethics skillfully to a variety of situations

More than half of the 30 fastest growing occupations are currently in the health field. As our population ages, the strong demand for health services professionals will only increase. A degree in this field positions you for success in non-clinical healthcare positions such as these: health service manager, medical or pharmaceutical sales, claims specialist, patient education specialist, research assistant, health or science data entry/analyst and health science writer.
