What is the Physician Assistant Direct Entry Program?

• Bay Path University will accept 30 full-time, first-time undergraduate students into our rigorous Physician Assistant Direct Entry Program.
• In your fourth year, Bay Path will offer the top 10 members of your cohort admission to the program who meet the acceptance criteria and complete an interview for a reserved spot in our MS in Physician Assistant Studies. Students are also welcome to apply through the standard admission process.

Admissions Requirements:

• SAT score >1170 or ACT score >24
• GPA > 3.5 or higher
• Four natural science courses
• Three math courses through pre-calculus with a final grade of "B" or better
• Two letters of recommendation, including one from a science academic representative
• Admissions Interview with the undergraduate PA Direct Entry Pathway program admissions team

Application requirements may be completed following high school graduation with the submission of official transcripts from an accredited institution but will not be considered for transfer credit towards the B.S. in Medical Science undergraduate degree program. Healthcare experience and/or shadowing is strongly recommended.

Transfer and/or AP Credits

Transfer and/or AP credits may be applied to PA Direct Entry PAthway degree requirements only for courses that are not prerequisites to the M.S. in Physician Assistant Studies graduate degree program. These prerequisite courses include all undergraduate math and science program requirements, comprising a total of 73 credits.

Accepted PA Direct Entry Pathway students must maintain a minimum cGPA of 3.5 throughout their enrollment in the program and achieve a grade of “B” or higher in all Bay Path University undergraduate program required courses.

Students who do not maintain the required cGPA or achieve a grade lower than “B” in program-required courses will have the opportunity to transition into the B.S. in Medical Science, Pre-PA track, or alternative program at any time.

Students will be required to complete a minimum of 200 patient contact hours during each summer between the 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd years of enrollment. These hours will contribute toward the minimum graduate program admission requirement of 500 patient contact hours and must be supervisor-verified for submission.

During the fourth year of undergraduate enrollment, students with reserved status for admission into the M.S. in Physician Assistant Studies program will provide the M.S. in Physician Assistant Studies Admissions Committee an official copy of undergraduate academic transcripts, patient contact hour log, current resume or CV, and letter from the Science Department Chair for verification of successful progress in the PA Direct Entry Pathway undergraduate program. Reserved status for direct entry into the M.S. in Physician Assistant Studies program is contingent upon successful completion of all undergraduate program criteria.

Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate their proficiency in the English language by taking the TOEFL iBT® test. The test scores must be submitted directly to the admissions department at Bay Path University. The minimum requirements as stated below are specific to the Physician Assistant Department and does not represent the requirements of the Institution.
