Bay Path University Recognizes Rocky Hill Resident and Dinosaur Park Board Member with Pathfinder Award
Longmeadow, MA— Bay Path University held its 122nd Commencement at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, MA on May 19, 2019. Over 1,000 students earned specialist in education, bachelor’s, master’s, and the University’s first ever doctoral degrees. During the ceremony, the University presented Rocky Hill, Connecticut resident Kimberly Struthers ’19, a business major at The American Women’s College, with the Pathfinder Award.
The Pathfinder Award was established by Mr. John H. Davis in honor of his wife, Robyn B. Davis, past Chair of the Bay Path University Board of Trustees. It is bestowed upon a graduating adult woman from Bay Path’s The American Women’s College who has achieved academic excellence with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 while balancing family, career, and community service responsibilities.
Energetic, courteous, and a persistent pillar of support for her peers, Kimberly’s work ethic and dedication to her family and her community have been an integral part of her journey. Twenty-five years ago, when faced with the reality of becoming a single mother of two toddlers, and needing to find a way to continue raising her children and keeping her home, Kimberly did the seemingly impossible: she planned, developed, and implemented a sustainable business in less than six months. That business went on to be awarded the “Best Home-Based-Business” by the Rocky Hill Chamber of Commerce in 2017.
As a volunteer at Maple View Manor, where Kimberly has five elderly women she visits weekly, Kimberly is passionate about providing care and comfort to the elderly. Through her Bay Path course work she worked with the Executive Board at Dinosaur Park and Arboretum, where she is a board member and treasurer, to create an advertising campaign to educate the senior community about the exercise and cultural benefits offered by the park
Embracing the challenge of returning to school after thirty years spent raising her children as a single mother and running her own business, Kimberly graduated from Bay Path University Summa Cum Laude with her bachelor of science in Business/Human Resource Management.
