Extension of Remote Working Schedule

Yesterday, Governor Baker extended the stay-in-place advisory and closure of non-essential businesses in Massachusetts until May 18. He also announced the formation of a Reopening Advisory Board which will play a key role in advising his administration on how best to reopen the Commonwealth’s economy in phases.

Just prior to the Governor’s announcement, the Executive Staff and I had made the decision to continue working remotely through the month of May. While longer than the Governor’s advisory, we feel this extension is in the best interest of our community and provides ample time to thoroughly prepare for our return to campus.

While very preliminary, our plans may include a staggered schedule of staff returning to offices as well as policies regarding visitors to campus. We will also continue the protocols we put in place in March, adhering to the CDC guidelines for the sanitization of facilities. These are just a few of the considerations under discussion. As throughout this crisis, your health and well-being remain our top priority.

Though we are working remotely, we are open in every sense of the word. I am grateful for your strong work ethic and for serving our students in the best possible ways. In addition, we are continuing with important initiatives like Title III, and preparing to welcome President-elect Doran. I wish to thank each and every one of you for your dedication.
