- Services provided- Occupational therapy evaluations, individual and group interventions, classroom consultation and support.
- OT students create interventions that are meaningful and purposeful to the child/classroom. Skilled intervention areas may include: activities of daily living, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, sensory processing/modulation, social functioning skills, strengthening, visual perceptual/visual motor integration skills, reflex integration, and brain-body connection activities.
Enfield Holistic - Region 1
Enfield Holistic is a partnership developed between Bay Path University Enfield Senior Center, Somers Senior Center, and Community Health Resources [CHR] (the Hub [Clubhouse setting]). Our community-based OT program is client-centered and embraces the wellness model, as opposed to a medical model of treatment, in order to improve the overall health and well-being of our clients. A strengths-based approach is also utilized in our programming. Occupational therapy evaluations, individual and group therapy, staff and family caregiver training, and consultation services are provided. Interventions may address areas including: life skills, meaningful activities designed to promote social interaction, emotional well-being, and increased self-esteem, fall prevention, nutritional education, building interpersonal skills/relations such as confidence, self esteem, motivation and self regulation, physical activity groups that emphasize a mind-body connection, safety training, leisure exploration and participation, sleep hygiene, functional cognition and communication, coping mechanisms, self-care, recommendations and modifications for the environment, staff and family education, self-advocacy, health management, and many others!
- Somers Senior Center: Located in Somers, CT.
- Enfield Senior Center: Located in Enfield, CT. Unique to this site is the delivery of a Stroke Survivor Support group.
- The Hub (Clubhouse): Located in Enfield, CT. Services clients ranging from young adults to older adults with severe and persistent mental illness in the community.
Enfield Holistic - Region 2
Our Lady of the Angels Felician Convent
- The Felician Convent is located in Enfield, CT. At this time, the Convent has an independent floor and a care center floor. The independent floor houses independent Sisters who maintain some type of job and are independent with their care. The 2nd floor, the care center floor, is filled with residents who require assistance. This can range from medication management to total care with all ADLs, IADLs and transfers.
- Services provided- Occupational therapy evaluations, individual and group interventions, staff consultation/education and support.
- Client-centered interventions focus on improving independence for daily routine tasks, improving socialization and leisure participation.
- Skilled intervention areas addressed may include but are not limited to: ADLs/IADLs, balance, safety, strengthening, ROM, social skills/socialization, visual-perceptual skills, cognitive skills, leisure participation, work simplification, ECT and health promotion/management.
- An intergenerational program was also introduced at the end of the last round of students. This included group interventions with the residents at the Convent, St. Francis Residence and the Montessori school, which is located on the same campus.
St. Francis Residence Independent Living
- St. Francis Residence is located in Enfield, CT. This is an independent living facility.
Services provided- Occupational therapy evaluations, individual and group interventions, education and support.
- Client-centered interventions focus on improving independence for daily routine tasks, safety, improving socialization, and leisure participation.
- Skilled intervention areas addressed may include but are not limited to: ADLs/IADLs, balance, safety, strengthening, ROM, social skills/socialization, home evaluations, cognitive skills, leisure participation, work simplification, ECT, and health promotion/management.
- An intergenerational program was also introduced at the end of the last round of students. This included group interventions with the residents at the Convent, St. Francis Residence and the Montessori school, which is located on the same campus.
St. Hyacinth Senior Friary
- St. Hyacinth Senior Friary is located in Chicopee, MA. This is a home that houses retired Fransican Priests and Brothers.
- Services provided- Occupational therapy evaluations, individual and group interventions, staff consultation/education and support.
- Client-centered interventions focus on improving independence for daily routine tasks, safety, improving socialization and leisure participation.
- Skilled intervention areas addressed may include but are not limited to: ADLs/IADLs, balance, safety, strengthening, ROM, social skills/socialization, cognitive skills, leisure participation, work simplification, ECT and health promotion/management.
Level I Community Sites
Ruth’s House
- Ruth's House is located in Longmeadow, MA and provides services in assisted living and memory care, with a specialty in caring for clients with dementia.
- Our level I fieldwork students focus on adult occupations as they observe and interact with residents, practice interview and assessment skills, and provide group interventions.
- Interventions may address balance, safety, strengthening, ROM, social skills/socialization, cognitive skills, and leisure participation.
Monastery Heights
- Prosper at Monastery Heights is located in West Springfield, MA. Prosper provides services in assisted living and memory care.
- Our level I fieldwork students focus on adult occupations as they observe and interact with residents, practice interview and assessment skills, and provide group interventions.
- Interventions may address balance, safety, strengthening, ROM, social skills/socialization, cognitive skills, and leisure participation.
JCC/SensiPlay
- The SensiPlay program is located at the Jewish Community Center (JCC) in Springfield, MA. This exciting program is a collaboration between the Bay Path OT department and the special needs and preschool programs at the JCC. The SensiPlay program is held in a specially designed sensory motor gym.
- Our level I fieldwork students at SensiPlay focus on pediatric occupations and client factors as they observe and interact with the children while helping them participate in full-body movement activities utilizing specialized equipment.
- Students also provide group interventions addressing areas of fine motor, visual perception, and emotional regulation.
